Job summary

UND College of Engineering & Mines is seeking a part-time ambassador to support Outreach/Recruiting. You will conduct tours for prospective students, manage daily social media posts on Facebook and Instagram, and help plan outreach activities with presentations, lesson plans, and supplies.

Training is provided, and the position is non-benefitted and limited to UND students in good standing. Applicants must be enrolled in at least 1 credit for the term, be a sophomore or higher in the UND CEM,

Qualifications

  • Only UND CEM students at sophomore level or above are eligible.
  • Familiarity with Facebook and Instagram is a plus.
  • Ability to clearly and enthusiastically explain engineering programs, facilities, and student life.

Responsibilities

  • Lead campus tours for prospective students.
  • Create daily social media posts and stay up to date with CEM news.
  • Develop and lead Outreach activities, including presentations and lesson plans.

Salary/Position Classification
  • $15.00 Hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 5-10 hours per week

Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefitted position. Only UND Engineering and sophomore level and above students are eligible to be hired into this position.

These positions are open to all disciplines within the College of Engineering & Mines, including undergraduate or graduate, distance, on-campus, or transfer students who have a passion for engineering and science

The role of the College of Engineering & Mines (CEM) ambassador is to work directly with the Outreach/Recruiting office to support all departments/schools within recruiting and outreach efforts. These events are located remotely or on campus. This role is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable work experience and develop strong leadership skills, and professional skills. Training is provided for all ambassador roles.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Descriptions of each role an ambassador plays in engineering.
    • CEM Ambassador—Tours
      • Provide tours to prospective students.
      • When not providing tours, the Tour Ambassador will be responsible for filling out postcards to prospective students at the front desk and participating in other outreach opportunities.
    • CEM Ambassador—Social Media
      • Contribute to all social media outlets used in Outreach. This includes primarily Facebook & Instagram.
      • Responsible for daily posts
      • Staying up to date on CEM news
      • Posting photos from outreach events
    • CEM Ambassador—Outreach
      • Participate, create, and lead Outreach activities.
      • Develop activities that involve
        • Creating presentations and
        • Lesson plans
        • Printing materials
        • Creating supply lists
        • Corresponding with other participating ambassadors
Minimum Requirements
  • Only UND College of Engineering & Mines and sophomore level and above students are eligible
  • CEM Ambassador—Tours:
    • Availability Monday-Friday 11:00am-2:30pm
  • CEM Ambassador—Social Media
    • Familiarity with Facebook and Instagram
  • CEM Ambassador—Outreach
    • Transportation to off campus location
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 1 credit for the employed academic semester
  • Ability to clearly and enthusiastically explain engineering programs, facilities, and student life.
  • Friendly and approachable demeanor to make prospective students and families feel welcome.
  • Familiarity with the college’s departments, labs, and student opportunities.
  • Balancing tour schedules with desk duties and outreach participation.
  • Accurately filling out postcards and maintaining a professional image.
  • Successful completion of a Standard Criminal History Background Check
