Job summary

Volkert is seeking a CEI Inspector to support our Southwest Region, based in New Orleans, LA, with additional locations including Baton Rouge, Monroe, and Shreveport, LA.

You will conduct inspections for compliance with contract documents, test materials, review plans, and document daily diaries while coordinating with contractors and owners to minimize delays and ensure safety and quality.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of progressive inspection experience or equivalent
• Ability to perform moderate physical activity (walking, climbing, kneeling, standing)
• Willingness to work nights and weekends
• Pass pre-employment drug screening and have a valid MVR
• Must be able to travel to LA sites as needed

Responsibilities

• Inspect for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications
• Test materials and review plans
• Maintain daily diaries on project operations and resolve constructability issues
• Monitor daily contractor operations and review test reports for conformance
• Document pay records and perform construction calculations
• Anticipate contractual issues and advise on plan revisions or contract adjustments
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and maximize progress

We are currently seeking an experienced CEI Inspector to support our Southwest Region, based in New Orleans, LA. Additional locations under consideration include Baton Rouge, Monroe, and Shreveport, LA.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, 1 year of progressive inspection level experience

What you’ll be doing:

• Inspection for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications
• Testing of materials and review of plans
• Keeping daily diaries on project operations, resolves daily constructability issues and trouble shoots problems to mitigate delays to contractor’s progress
• Monitors contractor's daily operations and performs and/or reviews test reports to ensure that all work and materials conform to specifications, plans and contractual
  provisions. Also monitors utility relocation efforts by inspecting and tracking relocation work
• Documenting pay records, performing construction calculation, and computer/iPad entry
• Anticipates contractual problems and advises supervisor of the need for plan revisions, supplemental agreements, or other contract adjustments to improve safety,
  timely delivery and/or quality of delivered product
• Effectively communicates and coordinates work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and disturbances while
  maximizing progress of the projects

What you need to have:

• 1+ years of progressive inspection level experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing
• Must be able to work nights and weekends as required
• Must apply safety philosophy and program to all operations
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
• A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
