Job summary

Volkert is seeking an experienced LADOTD Certified Inspector for the Southwest Region, based in New Orleans, LA. The Senior Inspector will oversee inspection activities to ensure compliance with contract documents and specifications, while coordinating with contractors and stakeholders to minimize delays and maximize project progress.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year of progressive inspection experience and LADOTD certification, with the ability to work nights and weekends and pass safety

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of progressive inspection level experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity (walking, climbing, kneeling, standing).
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required.
  • Commitment to safety philosophy and program in all operations.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and maintain safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications.
  • Test materials and review plans for accuracy.
  • Maintain daily diaries on project operations and resolve constructability issues.
  • Monitor contractor operations and review test reports for conformance to specs and plans.
  • Document pay records and perform construction calculations.
  • Advise supervisor on plan revisions or contract adjustments to improve safety, timeliness, and quality.
  • Coordinate effectively with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays while maximizing progress.

Regular Full Time SENIOR INSPECTOR New Orleans, LA, US

We are currently seeking an experienced LADOTD CertifiedInspector to support our Southwest Region, based in New Orleans, LA.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, 1 LADOTD or equivalent roadway/bridge inspection certification.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Inspection for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications
  • Testing of materials and review of plans
  • Keeping daily diaries on project operations, resolves daily constructability issues and trouble shoots problems to mitigate delays to contractor’s progress
  • Monitors contractor's daily operations and performs and/or reviews test reports to ensure that all work and materials conform to specifications, plans and contractual
    provisions. Also monitors utility relocation efforts by inspecting and tracking relocation work
  • Documenting pay records, performing construction calculation, and computer/iPad entry
  • Anticipates contractual problems and advises supervisor of the need for plan revisions, supplemental agreements, or other contract adjustments to improve safety,
    timely delivery and/or quality of delivered product
  • Effectively communicates and coordinates work with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and disturbances while
    maximizing progress of the projects

What you need to have:

  • 1+ years of progressive inspection level experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as required
  • Must apply safety philosophy and program to all operations
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
