Job summary
Atlas is a trusted environmental and infrastructure consulting firm hiring a CEI Construction Inspector for its Columbia, South Carolina office. The role involves highly technical inspection of concrete, foundations, soils, and related highway projects, with reporting to the SCDOT Resident Construction Engineer on statewide projects.
You will implement testing procedures, maintain complete inspection records, and communicate findings to stakeholders while ensuring adherence to the SCDOT
Qualifications
- Certification in SCDOT inspection areas (Concrete, Asphalt, Earthwork, Foundations, Pavement).
- Read and interpret plans, specs, and procedures.
- Knowledge of highway construction and materials testing.
- Bachelor’s degree with 1 year bridge/roadway inspection experience or high school with 2 years inspection experience.
Responsibilities
- Monitor contractor work for compliance with plans and specs.
- Record daily construction activities and progress details.
- Verify quantities and assist with payment recommendations.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and inspection records.
- Communicate findings to project stakeholders; perform other duties as needed.
