Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced CDU Test Team Lead to support a new advanced manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas.

Our client develops and manufactures advanced liquid cooling systems used in high-performance computing and data center environments.

The CDU Test Team Lead will oversee testing, verification, validation, and qualification activities for Cooling Distribution Units (CDUs). This position will provide technical leadership to testing personnel while ensuring that products meet established performance, reliability, safety, and quality requirements.

The successful candidate will also help establish testing procedures, workflows, equipment readiness, and technical standards as the new manufacturing facility becomes operational.

Key Responsibilities

Test Operations & Team Leadership

• Lead daily CDU testing and qualification activities.
• Coordinate testing schedules, priorities, equipment availability, and technical resources.
• Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to test engineers and technicians.
• Develop and maintain standardized testing procedures and documentation.
• Support the establishment of testing workflows and quality standards during facility startup.
• Ensure testing activities meet engineering specifications and customer requirements.

CDU Performance & Reliability Testing

• Oversee mechanical, electrical, thermal, and fluid system testing.
• Coordinate testing involving pumps, heat exchangers, pressure-regulating valves, sensors, and fluid distribution components.
• Conduct or oversee pressure, flow, temperature, leak, and thermal performance testing.
• Support reliability testing, thermal cycling, vibration testing, and other qualification activities.
• Monitor testing instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems.
• Evaluate test results and identify performance or reliability concerns.

Technical Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement

• Lead investigations into testing failures, equipment issues, and product nonconformances.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and coordinate corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Reliability teams.
• Review test data, qualification reports, and technical documentation.
• Support engineering change evaluations and product improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency, repeatability, and accuracy.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in engineering testing, product validation, or related technical roles.
• Experience leading technical testing activities or mentoring engineering personnel.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and electromechanical systems.
• Experience developing and executing test plans and validation procedures.
• Familiarity with pressure, flow, temperature, and electrical measurement systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Cooling Distribution Units (CDUs) or liquid cooling technologies.
• Experience with reliability testing, HALT, DFMEA, and failure analysis.
• Knowledge of PLCs, embedded controls, and PID tuning.
• Familiarity with Python, C/C++, or automated testing systems.
• Experience with data acquisition and industrial instrumentation.
• Previous experience supporting new manufacturing or testing operations.
