Job summary

Baptist Health Hamburg is seeking a Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) for full-time first shift in the Hamburg ED. The department provides 24/7 emergency care with access to EMS transport and an Extended Care Unit in a modern, high-volume center.

You will work under the ED RN, support patient care, communicate effectively, and help maintain efficient department flow by handling specimens and patient transport with attention to policy and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or completion of first-year clinical nursing coursework with validation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; if not held, must obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Functions within the multidisciplinary ED team under the direction of the ED Registered Nurse.
• Demonstrates effective communication and coordination of patient care and department flow.
• Maintains computer skills and uses systems for assigned duties.
• Keeps work areas organized to support efficient operations.
• Collects, processes, transports and analyzes specimens per hospital policies.
• Demonstrates proficiency in patient care per hospital standards.

The Emergency Department at Baptist Health Hamburg is a part of a 344,000-square-foot medical center offering 24/7 emergency care for patients of all ages. The ED includes specialty treatment rooms, an Extended Care Unit for short-stay observation, and access to 24-hour EMS transport, including ALS ambulance support. Our team delivers high-quality, patient-focused care in a modern, collaborative environment.

Description:

• The Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) functions within the multidisciplinary team that cares for the ED patient under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and coordination of patient care/department flow.
• Working knowledge of appropriate computer functions and systems for assigned duties.
• Maintains work area to ensure efficient operation and workflow.
• Collects, process, transports and analyzes specimens according to approved standards of testing per laboratory policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates proficiency in patient care, according to hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year clinical classes in nursing school and validation of a clinical consistent with level of education.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
