$25,000 Hiring Incentives for Mid Level Providers

Payout will be as follows:

  • $5,000 after successful completion of the CDOC Training Academy
  • $5,000 after 4 months of service
  • $5,000 after 8 months of service
  • $10,000 after 12 months of service

**Qualified candidates must be hired and start employment with CDOC before June 30, 2025, to qualify for the incentive.**

This position involves providing medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for inmates, including acute, chronic, and emergency care, in various clinical settings. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform physical examinations and obtain patient histories;
  • Assess and treat medical problems and provide direct care;
  • Prescribe medications from the CDOC formulary following applicable guidelines;
  • Conduct sick call, emergency, or chronic care clinics;
  • Make rounds in infirmary or nursing settings;
  • Diagnose and treat within scope of practice;
  • Order tests and diagnostic procedures;
  • Perform minor procedures such as suturing, abscess drainage, cyst excision, splinting, and toenail removal;
  • Provide emergency medical coverage, including life support procedures;
  • Assess emergencies and refer appropriately;
  • Assist in pre/post-operative care;
  • Review health records and test results;
  • Perform venipuncture and related tests;
  • Follow CDOC standards, protocols, and policies;
  • May provide initial emergency treatment for staff;
  • Travel to other facilities as needed;
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and participate in decision-making committees;
  • Develop policies and educational materials;
  • May participate in restraining offenders for medical reasons;

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current, valid licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse / Nurse Practitioner from the Colorado Board of Nursing.
