Job summary

HD Supply is seeking a switcher truck operator to move tractor trailers around the distribution center yard, perform safety checks, and assist dock workers with loading and unloading inventory. A CDL with hazmat endorsement is required, and MVR monitoring will be conducted.

Prior yard jockey experience is preferred for this role. The job involves operating company or rental vehicles, with regular workweek hours and potential overnight travel.

Qualifications

• CDL with hazardous materials endorsement required.
• 2+ years of commercial driving experience compliant with FMCSA/DOT.
• MVRs will be monitored regularly.
• No more than 2 minor accidents in the past 3 years.
• No more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
• Prior yard jockey experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transports trailers within a distribution center, moving between shipping and receiving docks.
• Conducts equipment inspections per DOT regulations and internal procedures.
• Couples and uncouples tractor trailer units, connecting/disconnecting brake lines as needed.
• Moves and organizes line haul trailers in the shipping yard for efficient inventory flow.
• Ensures trailers are ready for loading, unloading, and transport.
• Documents all trailer moves within the shipping yard and refuels the switcher when needed.
