Job summary

The City of Murfreesboro is seeking a Solid Waste Driver/Operator to collect and dispose of solid waste across city routes. You will operate a range of trucks and loaders, performing daily inspections and maintaining equipment in all weather conditions.

This safety-sensitive role requires a High School Diploma or GED and a valid Class B CDL. Overtime, holidays, and weekend work may be required. City benefits and growth opportunities included.

Qualifications

• Must communicate in spoken and written English.
• Ability to safely drive all trucks and equipment used in the Department.
• Willingness to perform overtime, holidays, and weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Operate various solid waste equipment and trucks on assigned routes under different weather conditions.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete Vehicle Condition Reports.
• Assist with loading, lifting heavy objects, and cleanup at collection locations.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and fuel levels; communicate via radio using FCC protocol.
• Repair garbage cans and deliver new cans to residents as needed.
