Full Time or Part-Time Landfill Equipment Operator/Driver

Nottoway County Landfill has an immediate opening for a Full-Time or Part-Time Equipment Operator/Driver with a CDL Driver’s License Certification to operate waste collection vehicles or equipment for the sole purpose of collecting waste throughout the County. This individual must possess a High School diploma or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred working hours are 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday – Friday.

Job Description

The position will be responsible for safely operating and driving County vehicles and equipment associated with Landfill operations, including transporting waste and other materials, performing routine vehicle inspections, and assisting with general Landfill operations as needed.

Essential Functions/Typical Tasks

• Drives special-purpose vehicles in the collection and removal of solid waste from various collection points in the County.
• Operates Landfill equipment as needed
• Performs minor equipment maintenance in accordance with established rules.
• Performs related tasks as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of general Virginia traffic laws, ability to safely operate trucks and assigned equipment, dependable, ability to perform duties outdoors in varying weather conditions, and ability to perform physical tasks moving up to 50lbs on occasion.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma, or any combination of education and experience.

Experience in operation and maintenance of motorized equipment preferred.

Special Requirements

Possession of valid Virginia driver’s license with CDL Certification

Compensation and Schedule

Part-time Rate: $19.23/hour
Preferred Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 4:30PM
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
