Job summary

Chelan County Community Development Department seeks a skilled equipment operator/load driver to transport materials and perform highway construction tasks. The role involves operating dump trucks, spreading materials, and assisting with road projects in various weather conditions.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED with at least 2 years’ experience, a valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement, and a Flagger card; First Aid/CPR/AED is preferred. Overtime opportunities exist.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; two years’ experience; or equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Read and work to grade stakes.
• Drive trucks safely to destinations.
• Maintain radio contact with supervisor for instructions.
• Inspect truck equipment (tires, lights, brakes, oil, etc.).
• Load and unload truck.
• Secure loads with blocks, chains, or rope.
• Tilt body to dump contents.
• Operate on-site equipment as required.
• Grease, oil, and perform minor repairs on equipment.
• Flagging duties as assigned.
• Dig holes.
• Haul or spread topsoil.
• Build forms for concrete borders.
• Mix and pour cement.
• Perform manual labor (shoveling, jackhammer).

Education

HS diploma or GED; 2 years’ experience; or equivalent
