Job summary

Central Maine Community College in Auburn, ME is seeking a CDL Trainer to deliver classroom and hands-on CDL instruction, focusing on vehicle operation, safety regulations, and trip planning.

The trainer will assess student progress, provide advising to help students achieve licensure, and maintain a safe teaching environment, including yard oversight and vehicle maintenance coordination.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be 22 years or older.
• Valid State of Maine Class A license and approval through the College’s vehicle insurance policy to drive college-owned vehicles.
• At least 6 years’ experience as a licensed operator.
• 2+ years’ experience driving a commercial vehicle requiring a CDL A.

Responsibilities

• Instruct CDL classroom and behind-the-wheel training.
• Teach topics: vehicle operation, safety regulations, vehicle systems, trip planning, driver responsibilities.
• Assess student performance and advise to help meet licensing goals.
• Maintain a safe training environment and oversee training vehicles and yard, coordinating maintenance as needed.
• Prepare students for CDL skills testing and licensure.
