Job summary

Transit Team, Inc. is hiring a CDL Trainer in Wisconsin to provide classroom and behind‑the‑wheel instruction for CDL applicants and current drivers. The role emphasizes safety, coaching, and meticulous record‑keeping.

You will prepare trainees for knowledge tests, inspections, and road skills, while covering routes during low training demand. Expect a consistent daytime schedule and opportunities to impact student transportation safety.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class B CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
  • Must have held a Class B CDL with P and S endorsements for at least two years.
  • Strong knowledge of safe commercial and school bus driving practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, files, and training documentation.
  • Ability to communicate instructions clearly and effectively.
  • Willing and able to operate school buses and cover routes when needed.
  • Must meet all applicable DOT, state, company, and school bus driver qualification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare trainees for CDL knowledge, pre‑trip inspection, basic vehicle control, and road skills examinations.
  • Teach and reinforce safe school bus operation, defensive driving, pre‑trip inspections, student transportation procedures, and company safety expectations.
  • Evaluate trainee performance and provide clear, constructive coaching and feedback.
  • Track trainee progress and communicate concerns or additional training needs to management.
  • Maintain accurate and organized training records, documentation, and driver training files.
  • Assist with refresher, remedial, and safety training for existing drivers.
  • Maintain an organized training schedule and ensure required documentation is completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Serve as a positive example of safe driving, professionalism, attendance, and customer service.
  • Cover school bus routes, field trips, and other driving assignments when training demand is low.
  • Perform other training and transportation‑related duties as assigned.

Starting Pay: $28.00 per hour $3,000 Hiring Bonus Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM Consistent eight-hour schedule with no midday break deducted Year‑Round work, including winter, spring, and summer school breaks

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
  • Must have held a Class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements for a minimum of two years.
  • Strong knowledge of safe commercial and school bus driving practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, files, and training documentation.
  • Ability to communicate instructions clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to coach individuals with varying levels of driving experience and learning styles.
  • Professional, dependable, patient, and safety‑focused.
  • Willing and able to operate school buses and cover routes or field trips when needed.
  • Must meet all applicable DOT, state, company, and school bus driver qualification requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience training, mentoring, or coaching commercial drivers.
  • Experience providing behind‑the‑wheel CDL instruction.
  • Knowledge of Entry‑Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements and school bus driver training requirements.
  • Experience maintaining driver qualification or training records.
