Job summary

The City of Thomasville is seeking a street construction and maintenance worker who holds a valid CDL and has 1–2 years of experience. The position involves operating multiple heavy machines and performing hands-on labor.

You will install culverts, repair sidewalks, and support crew operations, working outdoors in varied weather. A high school diploma is required and you may supervise team members as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CDL driver’s license.
• 1–2 years of street construction and maintenance experience, plus general carpentry.
• Ability to supervise employees and/or work as part of a crew.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment including backhoe/loader, street sweeper, motor grader, mowing tractors, and line striping/garbage equipment as needed.
• Dig ditches to grade and load/unload dirt, gravel, rip-rap, and sand.
• Install driveway culverts and storm drains to grade.
• Remove, replace, repair, and construct sidewalks.
• Perform manual labor with shovels, rakes and hoes; repair dirt roads and maintain storm water flow.
• Work in inclement weather and at night; handle hazardous machinery safely.
