Job summary

City of Bryan is seeking a hands-on Equipment Operator for the Residential Litter Collection Program. The role requires operating large sanitation trucks and supporting recycling operations, with a focus on safety and community education.

Entry requires a high school diploma or GED and a Texas Class B CDL, along with prior driving heavy machinery experience. Work schedule is Monday–Friday, 7am–3:00pm, with duties spanning field collection, traffic safety, and occasional back-up driving.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Three years of work experience, preferably driving a large vehicle or heavy equipment.
• CDL must be maintained during employment and driving experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing residential litter collection programs.
• Assess areas and determine cleanup type (trash, litter, brush).
• Collect litter from roadways as part of the program.
• Educate residents on ordinances and policies related to Solid Waste.
• Assist with brush, bulky items, yard waste, and recycling operations when needed.
• Back up/relief drive large sanitation trucks and other heavy equipment as required.
• Respond promptly to work and perform related duties.
