Job summary

MasTec, Inc. is seeking a Skilled Laborer/Groundman in Sumner, WA to support telecom construction projects. You will perform digging, material handling, and site prep with basic hand tools, while working outdoors and contributing to safe, quality work daily.

You’ll transport equipment, help build cable systems, and troubleshoot field issues, learning various tools and techniques in a team setting. This is a long‑term, hands-on role offering solid perks and growth.

Responsibilities

As a Skilled Laborer/Groundman, you will support all phases of utility construction for various types of telecom projects. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Be responsible for various manual tasks such as digging trenches, unloading building materials, and preparing job sites with the use of hand tools like shovels, rakes, and picks
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites
• Transport heavy equipment to and from the job site each day
• Build and maintain aerial and underground cable systems
• Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field
• Learn and train to use various kinds of tools and equipment

Qualifications

• You have a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a DOT med card for driving purposes (CDL preferred; applicants are subject to an MVR review, and must meet company standards for a safe driving record)
• You want to learn the telecom construction trade to advance your career, like Coax Splicing, Fiber Splicing, Directional Drilling, etc.
• You want to make an impact with your local community and enjoy being home daily

MOS Codes 12K, 12N,12V, 12W, 21E, 21J, 25P, 91C, 91L, 11B, 1100, 1120, 1316, 9970-9975, 0612, 2T3XX, 2E1XX, 3E2XX, 3E3XX, 9T0XX, BU, UT relate well to this position.

Compensation of $28-$34 per hour, depending on the experience.
