Job summary

James Madison University’s Facilities Management is accepting applications for a 12-month CDL driver (Institutional Chauffeur). This position is responsible for ensuring university programs have an effective means of transportation to and from scheduled events including shuttle for airport runs, campus program shuttle for special events, and all university functions.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service skills.
• Must have CDL with passenger endorsement and a current medical examiner’s certificate.
• Extensive experience driving coaches/buses.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule and collaborate with faculty and students.
• Knowledge of bus/coach operations, components, and trip routing/logs.
• Availability on weekdays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Drive professional routes in-state and out-of-state as needed.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections per DOT requirements.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and service readiness for trips.
• Plan efficient routing and maintain travel logs.
• Maintain proper uniform dress code.
• Provide trip information for software data collection and complete training on software updates.
