Job summary

OmniSource is seeking a professional truck driver to operate diesel-powered tractor-trailer combinations for scrap metal movement with emphasis on safety and customer service. Responsibilities include hooking/unhooking trailers, inspecting equipment, and ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant with DOT rules.

You must have CDL Class A/B, be at least 21, and pass DOT screenings. Prior tractor-trailer experience or CDL school certification is preferred. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of US DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, and inspection/maintenance.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret English for safety rules, instructions and manuals.
• Must pass Federal DOT Drug Screen, Breath Alcohol Test and Physical.

Responsibilities

• Hook and unhook trailers and operate landing gear safely.
• Inspect truck/trailers and report conditions daily or when switching equipment.
• Check shipping paperwork and determine load details.
• Drive to destinations in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Maintain required logs, fuel purchases, mileage and other records.
• Ensure shipping documentation is available for inspection and accompany shipments.
• Promptly report delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic.
• Represent the company professionally through safe driving and customer service.
