Job summary

St. Catherine's School is seeking part-time, hourly School Bus Drivers to transport students on daily shuttle routes and field trips. Applicants should have a valid CDL with passenger and air-brake endorsements preferred, plus several years of driving experience with a clean record.

The role requires safety-focused operation, pre-trip inspections, and coordination with athletics for events. Position is 9-month, non-exempt, with variable evening/weekend hours.

Qualifications

• Valid Virginia Driver’s License.
• CDL with air-brake endorsement preferred.
• One or more years of bus driving experience.
• Two or more years of experience working with children preferred.
• Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years.

Responsibilities

• Drives a school transportation vehicle within prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and discharging students at designated stops.
• Coordinate with Athletics to transport athletes to/from sports events (local and distance).
• Transports students and teachers on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed.
• May operate a special ramp bus; loads and unloads students in wheelchairs on and off bus, inspecting wheelchair for operational safety; operates ramp; positions and secures wheelchair in bus.
• Maintains order of student passengers according to school policy.
• Pre-trip the vehicle properly; have bus fueled and ready to go 15 minutes prior to departure time; properly fill out time sheet and mileage reports each day.
