Job summary

BrightBee, partnering with Livonia Public Schools, is hiring dependable School Bus Drivers to start students' days with a smile. This full-time role offers paid time off and benefits including medical, dental, and vision. Work hours are 6:00 a.m.–9:15 a.m.

and 1:30 p.m.–5:15 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some daily assignment changes. You will safely transport students, provide clear directions, and report any detours or maintenance needs.

Qualifications

  • Possess a valid Michigan driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Successfully passed the State of Michigan CDL road and written tests with P and S endorsements.
  • Ability to pass MDOT physical examination.
  • Ability to pass a drug test.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver license (training provided).
  • Hours include 6:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
  • Must pass background check.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Practice clear, concise direction for students to follow.
  • Follow route directions and report detours when necessary.
  • Call dispatch when you need to back up the bus.
  • Complete the pre-trip form daily and submit weekly.
  • Report maintenance issues to a technician and note scheduled maintenance.
  • Keep bus clean and neat; sweep and empty trash regularly.

What You’ll Do

BrightBee is partnering with Livonia Public Schools to hire dependable, safety-minded School Bus Drivers to join help start our students' days with a smile.

As a School Bus Driver, you are more than just a driver—you are a vital part of a child’s educational journey, ensuring they arrive at school safely, on time, and ready to learn. This is a full-time role including paid time off and benefits including medical, dental, and vision.

Schedule
  • Monday- Friday
  • 6am- 9:15am and 1:30pm - 5:15pm (Hours are subject to change depending on the daily assignment)

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Practice clear, concise direction for students to follow, ensuring students learn how to be safe bus riders. (Stay seated, aisle clear, hands to self, no yelling or screaming)
  • Follow route directions and report detours when necessary.
  • Call dispatch when you find a need to back up bus.
  • Complete the pre-trip form daily. Submit weekly.
  • Report all maintain issue to technician as well as reporting schedule maintenance items when due.
  • Keep bus clean and neat. Sweep, empty trash at least every other day and fuel when needed.

Basic Requirements
  • Possess a valid Michigan driver's license, and a safe driving record.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver license (Livonia Public Schools provide training)
  • Able to work from 6:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. (Hours are subject to change depending on the daily assignment)
  • Must be punctual and maintain a good attendance record.
  • Must be able to drive all buses in fleet.
  • Must obey all local, state, and federal laws and regulations for operating a commercial motor vehicle. Follow all district policies, practices and procedures pertaining to the transportation of students in a school bus.
  • Must be able to interact well with students and colleagues.
  • High school diploma or GED certificate required.
  • Able to push/pull and bend.
  • Must pass and be able to continuously pass physical examinations.
  • Must pass background check.
  • Must be able to evacuate all types of school buses and other district vehicles effectively and efficiently when necessary (in the case of emergency).
  • Must be able to maneuver in and out of the driver's seat/compartment efficiently.
  • Able to push, pull, bend and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Complete required school clearances
  • Follow safety and reporting guidelines

Prior to working with students, you will need to pass a background check, livescan and may need to obtain other necessary testing/clearances and provide us with authorization to contact former employers.. Rest assured, we will guide you through the process!

Please note, assignments may require the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
