Polk County BoCC is seeking a Residential Curbside Collection Specialist (Solid Waste) in Winter Haven, FL to operate a collection vehicle, collect residential waste and recyclables, and maintain safety and route efficiency. The role requires a CDL with air brake endorsement and prior curbside experience.

The position offers competitive hourly pay and County benefits. Applicants must comply with all DOT and county regulations and participate in ongoing training programs.

Qualifications

• Requires valid CDL A or B with air brake endorsement at time of employment.
• Experience in residential curbside waste collection preferred (5 years when stated).
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Operate collection vehicle following county rules and DOT requirements.
• Transport waste to disposal or recycling facilities as needed.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and document checks.
• Collect residential waste and recyclables, keeping customer sites clean.
• Support route efficiency improvements in coordination with data and management.
