Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, through PennDOT, seeks motivated CDL Operator Trainees to begin a rewarding public service career maintaining Pennsylvania roadways. You will learn to operate transportation equipment, perform maintenance tasks, and support highway and bridge operations with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Position offers a full-time schedule, no telework, and a starting salary that reflects state pay scales. A CDL permit and medical certificate are required from day one.

Qualifications

Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License on first day of work.
Active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on first day of work.
Active Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with FMCSA regulations on first day of work.

Responsibilities

Learn to operate trucks, loaders and other equipment with safety checks and adjustments.
Perform maintenance tasks using hand tools and power tools.
Follow safety procedures, report incidents and wear PPE on all job sites.
Monitor surroundings, identify hazards and communicate risks to protect workers and the public.
Carry out environmental protection steps related to maintenance work activities.
Assist crews with roadway and bridge maintenance duties as assigned.
