Job summary

Roadmaster Drivers School, a division of Werner Enterprises, is seeking experienced CDL Class A drivers to become instructors, mentoring students in safety and best trucking practices. This full-time role follows a standard Monday-to-Friday schedule with no weekends or holidays, and offers comprehensive benefits and educational assistance.

Ideal candidates have a CDL Class A, a clean driving record with limited violations, and at least two years of driving experience to qualify for instructor

Qualifications

• CDL Class A license with a clean record and limited moving violations (no more than 2 in 12 months, 3 in 24 months).
• Minimum 2 years of over-the-road or local driving experience or licensure pathway to instructor.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate and supervise driving operations for students.
• Oversee safe equipment use and ensure policy adherence.
• Supervise trainees and complete attendance and training records.
• Provide daily in-person instruction in Pre-Trip Inspection, Basic Control Skills and Road Driving.

Roadmaster Drivers School is seeking to hire experienced and highly qualified CDL Class A drivers who have the ability and desire to train the next generation of commercial truck drivers with professionalism so that they can take pride in their work and put safety first.

Job Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate assigned driving operations for students on a regular basis
• Oversee the safe operation and use of equipment when being used by students, ensuring that the company policy and standards are being adhered to
• Supervise all assigned trainees and complete the necessary documentation for each person, such as student attendance forms and training records
• Provide in-person daily instruction to students in the following areas: Full Pre-Trip Inspection, Basic Control Skills and Road Driving

Qualifications:

• A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with no more than two moving violations in a 12-month period, and/or no more than three moving violations in a 24-month period. Driving records not complying with the foregoing will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years over the road or local commercial driving experience, and/or minimum criteria required to obtain instructor licensure within the applicable jurisdiction and meet all other licensure requirements.
• Must pass and continuously maintain a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) physical which is issued in accordance with all regulations and recommendations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, pass an approved DOT drug test and hair follicle drug test (HFT) and agree to random and suspicion-based drug and alcohol screening.
• Must have the ability to effectively communicate with others using verbal and non-verbal/written skills. Must possess and demonstrate the physical, intellectual and leadership ability to deliver the company’s approved training and curriculum to students in the areas of classroom, full pre-trip inspection, basic control skills and road driving.
• Must successfully complete all required new hire onboarding and training in a timely manner, as well as continuing education as required by the company.
