Job summary

Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator - Parking Maintenance Technician to support campus streets, parking areas, and signage. You will operate tractors, backhoes, and excavators to maintain asphalt and concrete surfaces and ensure safe, efficient campus infrastructure.

Responsibilities include installing and maintaining traffic signs, painting crosswalks, and performing general equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or G.E.D. Prefer technical/vocational training related to job duties.
• A minimum of four years of skilled experience using various types of tractors, backhoes, and excavator equipment or experience in a related field.
• Requires a Texas Class B Commercial Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Operate campus vehicles and equipment for streets, parking lots, and signage.
• Maintain asphalt and concrete parking areas and campus roads.
• Install, care for, and maintain traffic signs; paint parking areas and crosswalks.
• Maintain shop equipment such as Graco Line Driver HD Ride on Striping Machine.
• May excavate areas for water, gas or sewage line repairs and assist with underground installations.
