Qualifications

• Four years of experience in the operation of heavy equipment/vehicles.
• Or one year of experience as an Equipment Operator I with Pima County.
• Valid driver’s license is required at the time of application. Arizona CDL preferred by job end.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of equipment to meet finish construction specifications in public works construction and maintenance such as roads, parks, drainage ways, and wastewater systems.
• Leads and trains laborers, equipment operators, and other personnel in equipment operations and in the successful completion of work.
• Operates backhoe to excavate around high‑pressure gas lines, electrical conduits, and water mains to access sewer lines.
• Operates grader to finish grades and base courses of roadways, checking and setting grade stakes for grading and leveling.
• Finish-grades roadways and drainage ways.
• Blade-mixes and lays bituminous road mix or asphaltic concrete.
• Loads, secures, and transports equipment on transport trailers.
• Performs minor equipment repairs and servicing.
• Participates in a variety of manual labor tasks.
