Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers is seeking personnel for snow removal and road clearance operations in Virginia. The role includes standby call-in duties for storm preparation and execution of winter emergency operations, operating heavy equipment, and performing preventative maintenance.

Candidates must have CDL and DOT medical card, be able to lift up to 50 lbs, and work day or night shifts. A valid driver’s license and safety shoes are required for on-site work.

• Possess CDL and DOT medical card and maintain thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Stand-by for call-in seasonal work to support storm prep and snow removal.
• Assist and support emergency operations for clearing snow and ice from roadways and applying abrasives.
• Perform heavy manual labor including plow, install tire chains, debris removal.
• Perform duties as assigned, tasks, activities and/or projects as assigned.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment used to clear roadways.
