Job summary

Republic Services in Colorado Springs is offering a Driver Trainee program designed to help you obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and transition into a Driver role across Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll-Off lines. You will complete a structured training plan with classroom study and on-road experience.

During the program you’ll learn vehicle inspections, safe operation of heavy trucks, route execution, and safety policy adherence, preparing you for post-CDL responsibilities

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers’ license.

Responsibilities

• Complete CDL training program: classroom, on-route training, driving experience, and resources to take CDL examination.
• Complete twelve months of employment after obtaining a CDL.
• Perform pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections per policy to ensure tires, fluids, safety equipment, gauges and controls are in proper working order.
• Report safety issues on standard reports.
• Learn to operate a heavy/commercial truck along a designated route and service each customer as identified.
• Operate manual/automatic controls to lift and load refuse, and dispose of material at the facility.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers per procedures.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable materials.
• Ensure assigned vehicle is operationally ready; clean waste from packer blade and truck body on each trip.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• After CDL, perform Driver duties in one of the company lines of business (Residential/Commercial/Industrial/Roll-Off).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
