Job summary

Republic Services is hiring a Driver Trainee to train and obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) before becoming a full Driver in one of our service lines. You will progress through a comprehensive program covering safety, route learning, and hands-on truck operation.

Upon CDL completion, you will assume Driver responsibilities in Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll-Off operations and complete a 12‑month minimum employment period with the company, supporting our customer service

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers’ license.

Responsibilities

• Successfully complete Republic Services’ CDL training program, including classroom study, on-route training, driving experience and resources to take the state CDL exam.
• Complete twelve (12) full months of employment with Republic Services after obtaining a CDL.
• Inspect vehicle pre- and post-operation to ensure tire pressure, fluids, safety equipment, gauges and controls are in proper working order.
• Safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route and service each customer as identified on the route sheet.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the packer, and dispose of material at the facility.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers as required.
• Continuously monitor waste for unacceptable material and monitor vehicle condition to minimize downtime.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• After obtaining a CDL, perform all responsibilities of a Driver in one of the company’s lines of business.
