Looking for an exciting opportunity with Garelick Farms? The NY distribution team is hiring Class A CDL drivers interested in short haul and over-the-road opportunities! Join the team and be assigned to routes that service some out-of-state locations. Candidates hired will be provided with overnight accommodations while performing the Rensselaer-based position.
GENERAL PURPOSE
Operate a truck and tanker, tractor-trailer, or double tanker up to a week at a time without home time, which may require completing 34-hour resets while away from home domicile.
Pick up or deliver products in a safe and timely manner to customers, distributors, etc., according to the delivery route schedule as determined by the dispatcher or supervisor.
Demonstrate high standards of customer service.
Communicate frequently with peers, dispatchers, supervisors, and others.
The responsibilities listed are not exhaustive; other duties may be assigned as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
1 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer within the last 5 years preferred.
Must meet minimum age requirements.
Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records.
Must meet all DOT requirements.
Valid Class A CDL; some drivers may need a doubles endorsement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements.
Proficient in mobile device use.
Skill in math for calculating load size and recording measurements.
Good organization and record-keeping skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proactive problem-solving ability.
Ability to follow directions, meet deadlines, and interpret company policies.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiative.
Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
