Job summary

GFL is seeking a CDL driver to operate residential and recycling collection trucks on assigned routes in Illinois. You will load, compact, and transport waste and recyclables while maintaining safety and route quality.

The role requires a valid CDL, at least one year of driving experience or CDL school certificate, and the ability to work in an outdoor environment. Training and safety programs are provided; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or desired.
• CDL license is required for this role.
• At least 1 year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate.
• Must meet safety-sensitive criteria and be able to safely operate the truck and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate a residential/recycling collection, side-load and/or rear-load truck and hydraulic system on assigned route.
• Load solid waste, yard waste and recyclables into the truck.
• Operate equipment to compact waste and maintain route quality.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete required paperwork daily.
• Communicate any vehicle mechanical issues to supervisor/mechanic promptly.
• Adhere to all safety standards and company policies; wear PPE at all times.
• May supervise helpers and coordinate with supervisor to improve routing efficiency.
• Overtime may be required and attendance at safety/branch meetings.
