Job summary

State of North Carolina - Department of Transportation seeks a Vehicle/Equipment Operator III to safely collect, transport, and deliver inventory and office supplies statewide, with CDL A or B.

The role includes customer service, documentation, and daily vehicle inspections; occasional overnight travel to western NC; work hours starting early.

Strong attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record.
• Experience operating commercial vehicles (box truck, van) and using pallet jacks/hand trucks.
• Proficient in maintaining accurate records and reports using Microsoft Office.
• Ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds and travel within the state as needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a commercial vehicle to deliver inventory and office supplies statewide to LPAs, Online Dealers, and DLOs.
• Load/unload using pallet jacks and hand trucks; secure materials for delivery.
• Provide professional customer service to agency personnel and other customers.
• Maintain accurate delivery records, vehicle logs, and related documentation; perform pre/post-trip inspections.
