Job summary

Aramark in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Driver II to operate as a CDL-certified driver for jail transportation, providing safe passenger transport and concierge-like guest assistance. You will inspect, fuel, and maintain vehicles, log details, and support dispatch with special requests.

Required are a Class B or C CDL, clean driving record, and a DOT medical card, with pre-employment drug testing and Defensive Driving Course completion. Physical duties and occasional warehouse duties may apply.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• 1 year+ professional driving experience and vehicle mechanical experience preferred, plus customer service experience.
• Must communicate effectively in English (written and spoken).
• Must have a valid Commercial Driver License (Class B or C) with a clean driving record showing 5 years of prior safe driving.
• Must pass a DOT physical examination and obtain a medical card.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and participate in random drug/alcohol testing pool.
• Must complete and pass Defensive Driving Course prior to driving a company vehicle.
• Passenger endorsement or airbrake endorsement may be required to drive all vehicles.
• Experience driving in all weather conditions including winter weather and tire chain installation.
• Familiar with equipment used and SDS sheets; attended safety meetings.

Responsibilities

• Complete a daily vehicle inspection form prior to driving and after finishing the route.
• Maintain a pleasant and clean atmosphere inside and outside the vehicle.
• Wear seat belt and use safety equipment.
• Operate vehicles under 26,000 lb GVW transporting passengers or supplies.
• Drive defensively, safely, and cautiously in all situations.
• Exhibit exceptional customer service and represent the company positively.
• Pickup and drop off guests at designated locations.
• Act as concierge resource for guests with knowledge of the property and surrounding areas.
• Assist with lifting luggage up to 80 lb when needed.
• Fuel, clean, and inspect vehicle when required.
• Identify and report maintenance and safety issues; log rider information.
• Coordinate with Transportation Office dispatcher for special requests.
• Possibly work as warehouse driver transporting equipment; may perform maintenance on service trucks.
