Job summary

The City of Baltimore seeks a CDL Driver II to oversee and direct crews of semi-skilled workers across highway and maintenance projects. Some roles may require operating a range of trucks and heavy equipment, with outdoor work at various maintenance sites.

Positions may include lead responsibilities, with supervision from a technical superior, and schedules that can include evenings, weekends, holidays, or callback duty for emergencies.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
• Three years of experience performing laboring tasks including lead responsibilities (assigning, reviewing, and approving the work of others).
• Three years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of exterior lighting systems or in electrical maintenance installation or repair work or in building construction electrical work, or three years of experience operating earth-moving, logging, highway or utility maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and directs a crew of semi-skilled workers or laborers.
• May drive and operate vehicles or trucks of all weights and sizes.
• Work outdoors at highways, grounds or utility maintenance sites or landfills, in a workshop or at repair sites with exposure to weather and hazards.
• Some positions require lead responsibilities and may include 24-hour call back for emergencies.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Experience in laboring tasks with lead responsibilities

Experience in electrical maintenance or exterior lighting
