A Brief Overview

The CDL Driver I delivers materials to job sites, inspects and maintains trucks, reports shortages and claims to supervisors, and assists in loading and storing materials. Typically, this role involves driving a truck with a capacity of more than three tons, but may include less experienced CDL or tractor trailer drivers.

Pay Range

$26.00 - $31.00/hour

What You Will Do

• Operate vehicles safely and responsibly.
• Participate in fostering a positive work environment.
• Maintain a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License.
• Prepare DOT-mandated logs of duty and driving hours.
• Organize and secure loads properly.
• Assist forklift operators during loading.
• Verify order accuracy.
• Deliver and unload materials to meet customer satisfaction.
• Conduct daily pre-inspections of equipment.
• Record returned merchandise and assist with unloading for credit.
• Follow DOT guidelines and safety standards.
• Provide excellent customer service and relay messages as needed.
• Assist supervisors and other team members as assigned.
• Maintain good housekeeping in yard and warehouse areas.
• Comply with all company policies and safety guidelines.
• Operate truck-mounted forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Keep the truck clean and maintained.
• Complete required training programs.

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience Qualifications

• Preferred: 6 months CDL experience.
• Required: Basic CDL experience with flatbeds and/or tractor trailers.
• Required: 1 year CDL experience for interstate commerce.

Skills and Abilities

• Basic math, reading orders, and completing forms.
• Effective communication skills.
• Constructive conflict resolution.
• Valid operator's license and driver qualification compliance.
• Knowledge of safe lifting techniques.
• Ability to learn and use current technologies (smartphone, GPS, etc.).

Licenses and Certifications

• Class A or B CDL License required.
