Job summary

Contractor General is seeking a Delivery Driver to ensure safe, accurate, and on-time deliveries to contractor jobsites in Columbia, MO. You will be the last face a project sees before work begins, showing up with professionalism, safety, and clear communication with dispatch and customers.

The role requires a valid CDL A or B, a clean MVR, and the ability to lift heavy items while navigating active construction sites. Onsite work with competitive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

Job description

Contractor General is a full-service construction supply house and custom rebar fabrication operation. Our product mix includes concrete forming systems (ICF, steel-ply, wood forms), rebar in multiple grades, concrete accessories, drainage, sealers, hand tools, equipment rentals, and specialty construction and farm supply products. We fabricate custom cut-and-bend rebar with detailing capability and deliver direct to jobsites across our trade area. We are a Premiere Group company.

Position Summary

The Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, accurate, and on-time delivery of construction materials — including rebar, forming systems, concrete accessories, bulk supplies, and specialty items — to contractor jobsites across Contractor General’s trade area. This person is often the last face a customer sees before a project gets underway, and how they show up matters. We expect professionalism on the road and on the site, a strong safety mindset, and the mechanical awareness to keep equipment running.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery & Logistics

• Load, secure, and transport materials to jobsites per the daily delivery schedule
• Deliver materials safely to designated drop locations on active construction sites
• Obtain customer signatures and document delivery completion
• Communicate proactively with dispatch and customers on timing, delays, or access issues

Vehicle Operation & Compliance

• Operate flatbed, straight truck, or tractor/trailer as assigned, in compliance with all DOT regulations
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; log hours per FMCSA requirements
• Report mechanical issues, accidents, or incidents immediately to management
• Maintain a clean driving record and valid CDL/license with required endorsements

Loading & Yard Support

• Work with the warehouse team to stage and load materials for scheduled deliveries
• Assist with unloading returned or damaged goods and equipment rental returns
• Operate forklift, overhead crane, or other material handling equipment as needed and trained
• Keep the truck, yard, and loading areas clean, organized, and safe

Customer Service

• Represent Contractor General professionally on every jobsite visit
• Communicate clearly with site foremen and supers on delivery placement and access
• Flag and report customer concerns or product issues back to the counter or sales team

Qualifications

Required

• Valid driver’s license; CDL Class A or B preferred depending on equipment assigned
• Clean MVR — no DUIs, reckless driving, or excess50 violations within 3 years
• Ability to safely operate a flatbed truck and secure varied loads (rebar, forms, pallets)
• Physical ability to lift and carry 75+ lbs; comfortable working on active construction sites
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow a dispatch schedule with minimal supervision
• Basic mechanical awareness — able to identify vehicle issues and complete inspection logs

Preferred

• Forklift or crane operator certification
• Familiarity with construction site access, protocols, and site safety requirements
• Experience with DOT hours-of-service logging (paper or ELD)
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This is a physically demanding, outdoor role. Drivers regularly lift and carry materials up to 75 lbs, work in all weather conditions, and navigate active construction sites including uneven terrain, noise, dust, and heavy equipment. The role requires extended periods of driving, frequent loading and unloading, and occasional early start times to meet project schedules.
