Job Description

$24.83 - $31.04 PER HOUR

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to ensure the timely and friendly delivery of Harmons’ products to stores and customers. This person will be required to have a CDL license with a Class A endorsement and be loading deliveries, delivering to and between stores, and delivering flowers to customers’ homes and workplaces, and delivering exceptional customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely operate both a tractor/trailer up to 80,000 pounds and a single vehicle up to 36,000 pounds
  • Loads product and assists in unloading product
  • Delivers to and between stores punctually and within delivery windows
  • Picks up product from vendors
  • Delivers flowers to customers’ homes and workplaces
  • Follows both established departmental and store policies and procedures
  • Adheres with all state and federal regulations and laws
  • Completes routine reporting including but not limited to: vehicle inspection reports, fuel reconciliation, and driver logs
  • Maintains Harmons Better Basic standards with vehicle, equipment, deliveries, and facilities
  • Performs basic maintenance on boxes, buckets, crates, and pallet jacks used for deliveries
  • Responsible for being an alert and courteous driver at all times
  • Checks delivery invoice against what is being loaded into the delivery vehicle
  • Delivers excellent customer service to all customers
  • Completes assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Sets a professional and positive example to others
  • Assists as needed to ensure the success of the Distribution Center as a whole

MARGINIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

A high school diploma or GED preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Basic math skills
  • Understanding of product rotation
  • Must enjoy working with and handling grocery products
  • Must possess CDL License with Class A endorsement
  • Must possess Harmons’ Forklift Certification
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with and manage diverse groups of people
  • Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one’s own success as well as the success of your team
  • Must possess integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and be self-directed with a demonstrated passion for Harmons’ mission and commitment to working collaboratively
  • Continually strives to be product minded, customer minded, personnel minded, detailed, forward focused and consistent
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and occasional overtime

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS:

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to cold, hot, slippery, wet, and changing weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries. Also requires standing, walking and bending throughout the entire work day and the ability to lifting heavy objects weighing up to 60 pounds and maneuvering heavy objects up to 4000 pounds with the use of equipment from location to location.
