Job summary

Formel D is seeking a qualified Class A CDL Driver to support data collection testing by towing and operating test trailers on designated public road routes in the Novi, Michigan area.

The ideal candidate will have strong trailer towing experience, meet all DOT compliance requirements, and be able to conduct safe and efficient driving operations in collaboration with engineering personnel.

Qualifications

• CDL license with trailer towing experience.
• DOT Medical Card current and compliant.
• Clean driving record and strong safety focus.
• Ability to perform light vehicle prep and inspection.
• Reliable and punctual with consistent route performance.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve trailers from storage facilities or trailer suppliers as assigned.
• Prepare both the truck and trailer for each designated test route.
• Perform pre-route safety inspections on truck and trailer.
• Operate the truck and trailer on a 100-mile public road test loop for about four hours.
• Run the route twice daily when required for urgent testing needs.
• Coordinate with the customer’s test engineer who records data and results.
• Capture real-world traffic conditions, including rush-hour scenarios, starting around 8:30 AM.
• Refuel vehicles as needed and maintain basic upkeep of equipment.
• Adhere to all DOT safety regulations and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Retrieve trailers from storage facilities or trailer suppliers as assigned.

Prepare both the truck and trailer for each designated test route.

Perform pre-route safety inspections on truck and trailer to ensure readiness and compliance.

Operate the truck and trailer on a 100-mile public road test loop, typically lasting four hours.

Run the route twice daily when required for urgent testing needs.

Coordinate with the customer’s test engineer, who will be present during each test drive to record data and results.

Capture real-world traffic conditions, including rush-hour scenarios, by starting routes around 8:30 AM.

Refuel vehicles as needed and maintain basic upkeep of assigned equipment.

Adhere to all DOT safety regulations and company procedures at all times.
