Job summary

North American Rail Solutions is seeking a reliable Class A CDL Driver to transport heavy equipment and materials to and from job sites. You will verify loads, perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and maintain DOT compliance.

You will drive up to 11 hours per day with a 14-hour limit, secure loads to DOT standards, and work independently while meeting daily and weekly goals. A high school diploma or GED and 3+ years of Class A driving are required, plus a clean driving record and TWIC if

  • Must be able to operate manual transmission (13 speed).

Responsibilities

  • Secure heavy equipment or materials for transport according to regulations.
  • Load and unload equipment with proper securement for transport.
  • Drive to designated destinations up to 11 hours with a maximum 14 hours total per DOT rules.
  • Operate a Class-A truck hauling equipment on flatbed/low-boy trailers in varied environments.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections with documentation per DOT guidelines.

Job description

Purpose of Position North American Rail Solutions (NARS) is seeking a reliable and dependable Class A CDL Driver to join our team. The CDL Driver is responsible for the transportation of heavy equipment & material to and from job sites. This role is responsible for operating in a manner that will optimize the company’s efficiency and help achieve daily and weekly goals including driving to and from designated locations, verifying loads, maintain record of duty status according to state and federal regulations, and performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

Major Responsibilities

  • Properly secures heavy equipment or material for transport while ensuring all loads conform to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Responsible for loading & unloading heavy equipment or materials for transportation, including proper securement and binding for proper transport to job sites.
  • Drive truck to and from designated destinations for up to 11 hours with and maximum of 14 hours total as DOT rules allow.
  • Safely drive a Class-A truck hauling equipment on a flatbed/low-boy trailer in a variety of conditions, including urban, suburban, and rural environments
  • Perform daily pre & post- trip inspections/safety checks with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies.
  • Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.
  • Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure vehicle is in safe operation condition.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safety driving guidelines and policies.
  • Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations including driver’s record of duty status, mileage records and other records required by law.
  • Obeying and following applicable traffic laws
  • Must keep truck in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education Required

  • At least 3 years of proven experience driving Class A vehicles
Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State DOT laws.
  • Ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional time management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination with the ability to reach quickly to unforeseen situations.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighting at least 50 pounds
  • Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
