Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. seeks a CDL driver in Rockford, IL to proficiently operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, and perform safe docking and freight handling. You will complete logs, follow dispatch, and ensure DOT and hazmat compliance while delivering reliable service.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, trailer hookups, and occasional city driver or dock duties. Overnight schedules may arise; safety and accurate reporting are essential.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A or CLP before entering job classification.
• Acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regs.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up/break down sets of trailers with ~100 lb lift requirement.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, and climb in/out of truck.
• Work independently and/or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip/post-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and convert dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs and reports.
• Follow Dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding checks.
• Provide customer service as needed.
• Perform freight handling with forklifts/pallet jacks when required.
