Job summary

Qualifications

• CDL required or CLP before entering job classification.
• Must pass MVR check per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulations under FMC rules.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip/post-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and move dollies as needed.
• Handle freight with motorized/manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Repair damaged freight when necessary and document accordingly.
• Maintain required documentation and reports.
• Collect checks for freight charges and keep related records.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding.
• Communicate with Dispatch about delays, arrivals, and issues.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• Determine pickup/delivery needs with customers and seek additional business.
