Job summary

Welch Packaging is seeking a driver to safely operate a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished products to customers in compliance with state and federal laws. The role runs Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., in Valley View, Ohio.

Starting pay is $26 per hour with a focus on on-time delivery and adherence to safety policies. A CDL A license and a high school diploma or GED are required; prior experience with large vehicles is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate tractor-trailer or box truck safely and efficiently.
  • Deliver loads along established routes observing traffic laws.
  • Inspect trailer loads and verify load before leaving facility.
  • Record and return bill of lading documentation.
  • Maintain vehicle in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to DAART program and DOT requirements.

Summary

Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor‑trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Pay

Starting Pay: $26 per hour.

Essential Functions
  • Complies with driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
  • Maintain vehicle in accordance with Elkhart Transportation management policy.
  • Operate vehicle safely and efficiently, complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Support on‑time delivery by transporting loads along established routes to proper destinations as efficiently as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and verify the load is correct before leaving facility.
  • Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
  • Obtain correct acknowledgment or signature and date for bill of lading and additional required documentation; return completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
  • Comply with performance measures.
  • Duties may vary depending on location.
Requirements / Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • CDL A license.
Experience
  • Prior experience driving large vehicles such as box trucks or similar.
  • Demonstrated safe driving practices.
  • Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred.

  • Requires close, distance, color, peripheral vision and depth perception; ability to adjust focus.
