Job summary

Welch Packaging in Ohio is seeking a driver to safely and efficiently operate a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished products to customers in compliance with state and federal laws.

This role requires a CDLA license, prior experience driving large vehicles, and strong communication, organization, and time management skills. Mon-Fri shifts emphasize timely, accurate deliveries and safe operation.

Responsibilities

• Complies with Driver responsibilities per DOT and DAART program.
• Maintain vehicle per management policy and safety rules.

• Ensure on-time deliveries by following routes and procedures.
• Inspect trailer loads before leaving facility.
• Verify product count during loading.
• Obtain and submit required signatures and documents.
• Meet performance measures and standards.

SUMMARY

Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws

Essential Functions

• Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
• Maintain vehicle in accordance to Elkhart Transportation management policy
• Operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
• Support on time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and it is the correct load before leaving facility.
• Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
• Comply with obtaining correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date; return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
• Comply with performance measures
• Duties may vary depending on location

Requirements/Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• CDLA License

Experience

• Prior experience driving in large vehicles, such as box truck or similar
• Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices
• Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred
