Job summary

Welch Packaging is seeking a professional driver to safely operate tractor-trailer or box truck and deliver finished products to customers in compliance with state and federal laws.

The role requires a CDL-A license, a high school diploma or GED, and prior experience with large vehicles. You will maintain the vehicle, support on-time deliveries, inspect loads, and complete paperwork accurately as part of a safety-focused transportation team.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices.
• Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver products to customers in accordance with DOT and company policies.
• Maintain vehicle per Elkhart Transportation management policy.
• Operate vehicle in a safe and efficient manner abiding by laws and company procedures.
• Support on-time delivery by transporting loads along established routes while following traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Inspect loads to ensure proper loading and correct load before leaving the facility.
• Verify product count while loading and obtain correct signatures and dates for bill of lading; return documentation to Transportation Manager.

SUMMARY

Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
• Maintain vehicle in accordance to Elkhart Transportation management policy
• Operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
• Support on time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and it is the correct load before leaving facility.
• Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
• Comply with obtaining correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date; return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
• Comply with performance measures

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• CDLA License

Experience

• Prior experience driving in large vehicles, such as box truck or similar
• Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices
• Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred
