Job summary

MB HAYNES Corporation in Asheville, NC is seeking a CDL driver/field technician to support power generation and distribution installations. You will drive to sites, unload materials, assist electrical workers, and help with safety procedures on job sites.

Candidates must meet background check and drug screen requirements, hold a valid Class A or B CDL, maintain a safe driving record, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Valid Class A or B CDL license or permit and current valid DOT physical.
• Safe driving record.
• Good knowledge and experience operating equipment used in construction safely.
• Positive and cooperative attitude and excellent attendance.
• Ability to get along with coworkers, inspectors, customers, and the public.
• Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
• Proper use of safety PPE.
• Knowledge of various hand tools.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Drive trucks to & from site, unload structural members of tower & electrical hardware from trucks. Assist electrical worker in installation, maintenance, & repair of electrical power generation & distribution equipment, underground cables, and related facilities. Place barricades around open manholes & excavations, and below crewmembers working overhead to protect public & workers from injury. Dig trenches, place shoring, & lower tools & materials to workers in excavations & vaults. Position reels of electric cable alongside trench or manhole, and guides cable as it is pulled into ducts to prevent damage to lead sheath. Break up concrete to facilitate installation or repair of equipment, using air hammer. Rig scaffolds & hoists, and helps move heavy machine parts to assist in assembly & repair of generators, converters, switchgear & related equipment at generating station or substation, as directed. May trim trees & clear undergrowth along right-of-way. Inspect & operate trenchers, backhoes, track hoes, plows, line trucks, bucket trucks, bobcat loaders, etc. Transport equipment to & from jobsites safely.

Requirements

• Properly use safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all types of hand tools.
