Job summary

MB HAYNES Corporation in Asheville, NC is seeking a dedicated truck driver to transport structural members and electrical hardware to job sites, unload loads, and assist with installation and maintenance of electrical equipment at generating stations and substations.

The role requires a valid Class A or B CDL, a clean driving record, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and passing a background check and pre-employment drug screen. A cooperative attitude and strong safety practices are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL license or permit and current valid DOT physical.
• Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Safe driving record.
• Good knowledge and experience operating in a safe way equipment used in construction.
• Must have a positive and cooperative attitude and excellent attendance.
• Must be able to get along with fellow workers, other tradesmen on the jobsite, inspectors, customers, and the public.
• Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds.
• Properly use safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all types of hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Drive trucks to and from site and unload structural members of tower and electrical hardware.
• Assist electrical workers in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power generation and distribution equipment, underground cables, and related facilities.
• Place barricades around open manholes and excavations, and below crewmembers working overhead to protect the public and workers from injury.
• Dig trenches, place shoring, and lower tools and materials to workers in excavations and vaults.
• Position reels of electric cable alongside trench or manhole, and guide cable as it is pulled into ducts to prevent damage to lead sheath.
• Break up concrete to facilitate installation or repair of equipment, using air hammer.
• Rig scaffolds and hoists, and help move heavy machine parts to assist in assembly and repair of generators, converters, switchgear and related equipment at generating station or substation.
• May trim trees and clear undergrowth along right-of-way.
• Inspect and operate trenchers, backhoes, track hoes, plows, line trucks, bucket trucks, bobcat loaders, etc.
• Transport equipment to and from jobsites safely.
