Job summary

QXO is seeking a Special Truck - Boom Operator to safely transport building materials to customer locations and job sites. You will load, secure, and verify loads, while complying with DOT/FMCSA regulations and company safety standards.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, customer-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment. Must be 21+, hold a Class A/B CDL, and have 12 months of verifiable driving experience; training available for boom trucks.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Valid Class A or B CDL license in good standing.
• At least 12 months of verifiable commercial driving experience.
• Boom truck experience preferred but willing to train.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform touch-freight tasks, which may require lifting, moving, or carrying products weighing over 75 lbs.
• Pre-inspect the truck, load materials, and verify the accuracy of the load.
• Notify branch management of any potential hazards on site.
• Set up job parameters and inspect the site to ensure a safe environment for loading and unloading.
• Maintain regular communication with the dispatcher to ensure timely delivery of products.
• Follow all DOT and company safety procedures, and always wear appropriate PPE.

What you'll do:

The Special Truck - Boom Operator is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of building materials, construction products, and equipment to customer locations and job sites. This role combines commercial driving responsibilities with hands-on support in loading, unloading, securing, and verifying materials while ensuring compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations and company safety standards. Depending on the business unit, deliveries may include oversized, specialized, or engineered building components. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, customer-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
