Job summary

QXO is seeking a CDL Boom Operator to safely transport building materials to customer locations and job sites. The role combines driving with hands-on loading, securing, and verifying materials while complying with DOT/FMCSA regulations and company safety standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 12 months of verifiable commercial driving experience, a valid Class A or B CDL, and comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months of verifiable commercial driving experience.
• Valid Class A or B CDL license in good standing.
• Experience operating heavy equipment and manual transmission trucks.
• Boom experience preferred.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform touch-freight tasks, lifting, moving, or carrying products weighing over 75 lbs.
• Pre-inspect the truck, load materials, and verify the load accuracy.
• Notify branch management of potential hazards on site.
• Set up job parameters and inspect the site for safe loading/unloading.
• Maintain regular communication with the dispatcher for timely delivery.
• Follow all DOT and company safety procedures and wear PPE.

What you’ll do:

The CDL Boom Operator is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of building materials, construction products, and equipment to customer locations and job sites. This role combines commercial driving responsibilities with hands‑on support in loading, unloading, securing, and verifying materials while ensuring compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations and company safety standards. Depending on the business unit, deliveries may include oversized, specialized, or engineered building components. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, customer-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, physically active environment.

What you’ll bring:

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Valid Class A or B CDL license in good standing
• At least 12 months of verifiable commercial driving experience
• Experience operating heavy equipment and driving a manual transmission truck
• Boom experience preferred
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
