  • Complete delivery paperwork accurately and promptly.

  • Provide courteous, professional customer service.
  • Report vehicle maintenance needs promptly.
  • Stay updated on driving trends and best practices.

Job Purpose:

- The CDL Driver at JOHNS BYRNE CO is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods and materials to and from designated locations. This role is crucial in ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining the company's reputation for reliability and quality service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety standards.
  • Load and unload cargo, ensuring that all items are securely fastened and properly documented.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents or delays encountered on the road.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members to coordinate delivery schedules and address any issues that arise.
  • Ensure that all delivery paperwork is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, security, and environmental standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service by being courteous and professional during all interactions with clients.
  • Report any vehicle maintenance needs or mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to continuously improve driving skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
Required Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CDL (Commercial Driver's License) driver.
  • Proven track record of safe and efficient driving.
  • Experience with loading and unloading cargo is preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Valid CDL Class A or B license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety standards.
  • Ability to operate and maintain large vehicles, including performing routine inspections and minor repairs.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and manage routes efficiently.
  • Physical stamina to handle long hours of driving and occasional lifting of heavy items.
