Overview
Under the supervision of the Collection Supervisor, responsible for transporting equipment and supplies to mobile sites for blood collections. Sets up and breaks down mobile site equipment before and after mobiles. Ensures all necessary equipment and supplies are loaded and stored appropriately.
Performs functions related to blood care post-collection, including storage and transportation. Promotes a positive image of CBC within the community.
This position offers a $2,500.00 sign-on bonus.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Drives assigned vehicles safely and lawfully.
- Adheres to DOT regulations.
- Loads, unloads, and reloads equipment and supplies for blood collections.
- Labels blood collection materials according to SOP.
- Sets up and breaks down mobile sites per SOP.
- Drives mobile units to sites and operates as needed.
- Properly disposes of biohazard materials.
- Processes blood after collection, including segmenting and temporary storage, then transports it to the center.
- Performs quality control on equipment.
- Verifies units and tubes, and identifies segments.
- Follows safety policies and procedures.
- Completes paperwork and checklists accurately and timely.
- Maintains professionalism with donors, staff, and community.
- Handles confidential information appropriately.
- Works more than 40 hours weekly as needed.
- Communicates effectively in English with the public and staff.
- Performs donor interviews, evaluates donor suitability, and measures vital signs.
- Performs blood collection procedures per SOPs.
- Attends to donor comfort and safety post-donation, managing reactions or complications.
- Labels collection materials per SOP.
- Cares for blood post-collection, including storage and transportation.
- Assists in equipment setup, maintenance, and dismantling.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service and professionalism.
- Sets up and breaks down mobile site equipment, assists with phlebotomy, and manages blood after collection.
- Must communicate effectively in English.
- Must maintain valid CDL (MO or KS) and/or DOT certification to operate the vessel.
- Must have Passenger Endorsement and a clean driving record.
Other Functions:
- Answers donor questions, performs data entry, maintains a safe environment, restocks supplies, and assists with special projects.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and report tickets or suspensions.
- Maintains a clean, organized truck and assists with mobile packing and cleanup.
- Heavy lifting is required.
Qualifications
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; transcript required.
- Medical Assistant degree and Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
- At least 21 years old.
- Valid MO or KS CDL with excellent driving history and Passenger Endorsement.
Skills:
- Customer service, documentation, communication, teamwork, computer skills, and good driving skills.
Knowledge:
- Missouri and Kansas driving laws.
Experience:
Prefer at least 6 months of driving experience.
