Job summary

Conklin Metal Industries – Memphis Branch is seeking an experienced CDL Driver to join our Memphis team. You will safely transport sheet metal, HVAC, and duct fabrication products to customers across the region, with a Monday-Friday schedule and overtime opportunities.

This is a hands-on role involving loading, unloading, securing freight, and direct interaction with customers. You will perform daily pre-trip inspections, maintain logs, and ensure compliance with DOT and company requirements

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Conklin Metal Industries is looking for an experienced CDL Driver to join our Memphis team!

If you’re looking for a driving position that gets you home every night, offers a consistent Monday-Friday schedule, and gives you the opportunity for overtime without being on the road for days at a time, this could be a great fit.

Our drivers are an important part of the Conklin team. You’ll safely deliver sheet metal, HVAC, and duct fabrication products to customers throughout the region while providing the dependable, professional service our customers have come to expect.

This is a hands-on driving position that includes loading, unloading, securing freight, and interacting directly with customers.

SCHEDULE

• Monday-Friday, with occasional exceptions
• Typical schedule: 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
• Hours may vary depending on deliveries
• Overtime opportunities available
• Home every night – no overnight runs

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a CDL Driver, you’ll be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting products between our branch and customer locations.

• Performing daily pre-trip vehicle inspections
• Reviewing bills of lading, manifests, and shipping paperwork
• Safely operating commercial vehicles in accordance with DOT, state, and company requirements
• Picking up and delivering freight to customer locations
• Loading and unloading products manually or with forklifts, pallet jacks, lift gates, and other equipment
• Matching, counting, and verifying freight against shipping documents
• Properly securing loads using straps, chains, webbing, tarps, or other equipment
• Hooking and unhooking trailers when required
• Maintaining required driver logs and documentation
• Keeping the truck and trailer clean and organized
• Reporting vehicle concerns, accidents, or injuries immediately
• Providing friendly, professional service to customers
• Working independently and managing your route responsibly

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for someone who takes safety seriously, is dependable, and understands that our drivers represent Conklin every time they arrive at a customer’s location.

• Adjusting to changing routes, delivery schedules, and daily priorities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is an active CDL position and requires more than driving. Drivers must be able to safely perform the physical duties associated with loading, unloading, securing, and delivering freight.

• Sit and remain alert while driving for extended periods
• Frequently enter and exit the truck cab throughout the day
• Bend, climb, balance, squat, crouch, reach, push, and pull as needed
• Frequently lift and carry freight weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Occasionally lift and carry heavier freight, up to approximately 122 lbs.
• Move heavier freight with appropriate mechanical assistance
• Push freight on carts, dollies, or other equipment
• Spend portions of the workday standing and walking on a variety of surfaces
• Safely hook and unhook trailers and operate landing gear, fifth-wheel releases, cargo doors, safety chains, and related equipment
• Load, unload, position, and secure freight using appropriate equipment and safe material-handling practices
